Fire dampers in CLT
Rf-Technologies fire dampers also suitable for ecological building trends such as CLT
At Rf-Technologies, we always make sure that our certified fire dampers are suitable for the very latest ecological trends in the building world. One of these trends is the increasing use of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), an ecological and efficient building material.
This innovative building material offers several advantages, such as durability, strength, aesthetics and fast construction. Its potential as a building material is constantly being explored further with a growing list of projects worldwide. Thus, CLT is a popular choice for all kinds of construction projects, from flat blocks to office buildings.
Fire safety and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT)
CLT structures, like all other building materials, must comply with fire safety regulations. Although CLT is a timber product, its unique layered design performs surprisingly well in fire scenarios, charring the exterior, protecting the interior structure and maintaining stability.
An essential component for ensuring fire safety in CLT structures is the use of certified products to ensure penetrations through the CLT structures.
Fire dampers are crucial to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through air ducts and ventilation systems. Both round CR120 and rectangular CU-LT fire dampers were tested in CLT walls.
CR120 with recessed block
Optimised circular fire damper, available in small diameters (from 100 mm). Assembly-friendly:
- Installation in a CLT wall with recessed block IFW for fast, dry and reliable installation
- Optimal net passage and minimal pressure drop
- Optimal acoustic performance
CU-LT with recessed block
Optimised rectangular fire damper, available in small dimensions (height from 100 mm). Assembly-friendly:
- Installation in a CLT wall with recessed block IFW for fast, dry and reliable installation
- Optimal net passage and minimal pressure drop
- Optimal acoustic performance
Advantages of our certified fire dampers for CLT walls
Our fire dampers save significant installation time and ensure fire safety without compromising the aesthetics or structure of timber buildings.
- Installation flexibility and time efficiency. The simple installation process ensures smooth and reliable installation.
- Installation with installation block: perfectly tailored to prefabricated wall openings.
- Fast, dry installation method saves time and worries.
- In short, a reliable solution for all types of projects.
- Official certifications: CE-certified in CLT walls, meets the strictest standards.

Easy and quick installation of our fire dampers thanks to installation block
The simple installation process ensures smooth and quick installation, ideal for all types of projects.
Thicker wall? An extended tunnel is the perfect solution.
For a CLT wall with a thickness of more than 100 and 135 mm respectively, the CU-LT and CR120 can be ordered with a longer tunnel.
This extended tunnel simplifies the connection to the connection channel. The installation method remains unchanged.

CE certified - EN 1366-2 tested
Our fire dampers comply with product standard EN 15650, were tested according to European standard EN 1366-2 and classified according to EN 13501-3. This results in a CE-certified product where the criteria for fire resistance and integrity under various conditions are met. Tested on CLT walls ≥ 100 mm.
CR120 was tested and approved in:
- Wall type: CLT (cross-laminated timber) ≥ 100 mm.
- Classification: EI 90 (ve i <-> o) S – (300 Pa)
- Damper size: Ø 100-315 mm
- Installation: Installation kit IFW
- Axis direction: 0-360°
- Minimum distance: 2 dampers in minimum distance from each other and/or the floor plate/ceiling (tested at shorter distance than determined by the standardisation)
CU-LT was tested and approved in:
- Wall type: CLT (cross-laminated timber) ≥ 100 mm
- Classification: EI 90 (ve i <-> o) S – (300 Pa)
- Damper size: 200×100 mm ≤ CU-LT ≤ 800×600 mm
- Installation: Installation kit IFW
- Axis direction: Horizontal and vertical
- Minimum distance: 2 dampers in minimum distance from each other and/or the floor slab/ceiling (tested at shorter distance than specified by the standard)
